About Us
Dr. Robokos founded Child Diagnostic and Therapy Services in 2008 as a setting in which to offer continuing support and services to treat children and families and offer supportive guidance, advocacy, and solutions to improve well-being and health. The practice provides psychotherapy and neuropsychological and educational testing, as well as consultations to families, educators, and schools.
MEET OUR TEAM
Dimitra Robokos, Ed.M., M.Phil., Ph.D.
Dr. Dimitra Robokos is a NYS licensed psychologist who began her private practice in 2008 and, with her prior work in education, has a combined experience of over 20 years. She is also a NYS Certified School Psychologist and also a NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She is a leader in the field of child development with extensive experience in evaluating and treating children from infancy, preschool age through adolescence and young adulthood.
Katherine Schoenthal Kar, EdM, BCBA
Katherine (Kate, she/her) Schoenthal Kar has been working with children and adults in home, school, community, and center-based settings across the greater New York area for more than ten years. Assessment has always been among her professional interests, sparked by various teaching assistantships related to standardized testing during and after receiving her Master of Education degree at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Samantha Lewis, Ed.M., M.Phil., Ph.D
Dr. Samantha Lewis is a New York State licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Columbia University. She earned Ed.M. and M.Phil. degrees from the same institution and has also completed Masters program coursework in Developmental Psychology. Dr. Lewis earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, with a BA in psychology. For the past eighteen years, Dr. Lewis has worked as a school psychologist in a public school district in Westchester County, New York.
Alex Kelly, M.A., Ed.M., NCSP
Alex Kelly is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and NYS Certified School Psychologist who has supported children, families, and teachers in the public elementary school setting for the past seven years. He received his training at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he earned his M.A. in Applied Educational Psychology and Ed.M. in Applied Developmental and Learning Psychology. Mr. Kelly previously studied at Stony Brook University, where he obtained a B.S. degree in psychology. Mr. Kelly is currently working as a school psychologist in a public school district in Westchester County, New York.
Griffin Thayer, Office Clinical Administrator & Research Writer
Griffin is the Clinical Office Administrator and Research Writer at Dr. Robokos’ practice. He is a clinical psychology doctoral student at the City College of New York. In addition to his current doctoral pursuits, he holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Saint Michael's College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Benjamin Avshalomov, M.A., LPMHC
Benjamin Avshalomov, is a Mental Health Counselor practicing with a limited permit while pursuing a doctorate in school-clinical child psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. He received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in early childhood education from Touro College and recently completed his Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at Yeshiva University.

Neuropsychological and Educational Testing
Neuropsychological and educational testing is a specialized evaluation to determine if an individual has a learning disability, attention disorder, or other subtle cognitive or learning issue that may impact personal behavior and well-being or academic performance.
Individual Therapy Services
Therapy is provided individually for children/adolescents/young adults and their families and Dr. Robokos adopts an eclectic approach that incorporates evidence-based techniques of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, insight-oriented and solution-focused therapy, as well play therapy (for younger children).
Group Therapy
Group therapy is also an offering at the private practice and that focuses on interventions for children and teens who benefit from being with peers and practicing many of the skills they learn in individual work while also benefitting from the supportive presence of other like-minded peers.
