About Alex Kelly, M.A., Ed.M., NCSP
Alex Kelly is a testing technician at the practice with Dr. Robokos, and he collaborates closely with Dr. Robokos when the children are seen for evaluations. By training, Alex is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and NYS Certified School Psychologist who has supported children, families, and teachers in the public elementary school setting for the past seven years. He received his training at Teachers College, Columbia University, where he earned his M.A. in Applied Educational Psychology and Ed.M. in Applied Developmental and Learning Psychology. Mr. Kelly previously studied at Stony Brook University, where he obtained a B.S. degree in psychology. Mr. Kelly also currently works as a school psychologist in a public school district in Westchester County, New York.
Mr. Kelly has extensive experience with all aspects of the psychological evaluation process. He has developed a robust skill set leading multi-disciplinary school teams through assessment, case conceptualization, and developing evidence-based recommendations. He is passionate about linking assessment to appropriate and effective interventions and utilizes a data-driven approach across all aspects of his work. Mr. Kelly has held (and continues to hold) various roles such as Chairperson for the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Section 504 Committee, overseeing the development and management of educational programs for elementary school students. Mr. Kelly also has experience evaluating preschool students through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and creating programs for children with developmental vulnerabilities as they transition to kindergarten.
Through his years of experience, Mr. Kelly was trained to offer various psychological support services within schools, such as individual and group counseling; consultation with teachers, parents, school administration, and service providers; and behavior assessment and intervention planning. He is also well-versed in principles of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and he frequently participates in professional development training in these areas. Mr. Kelly works closely with students with attention and executive functioning issues, anxiety disorders, and those on the autism spectrum. He offers parent counseling and training across various areas concerning children’s social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Mr. Kelly also has experience providing crisis intervention to students who experience emotional or behavioral regulation challenges. He has led professional development workshops on effectively de-escalating crisis behavior and serves on Southern Westchester’s Regional Crisis Response Team. Mr. Kelly is passionate about advocating for families as they navigate the crucial early years of their children’s education and beyond. He is committed to identifying and removing obstacles children may face so they can meaningfully engage with all aspects of their education and discover their unique passions and talents.
Originally from Westchester County, Mr. Kelly is a lifelong resident of New York. He has been a musician for twenty years and teaches guitar to children of all ages. In his spare time, Mr. Kelly enjoys exploring new restaurants and experiences throughout the city, playing trivia, and honing his chess skills.
